It’s so important for all of us, and especially – for orphans, to see the results of our labor. It brings so much reward and satisfaction and it motivates us for trying even harder! As our participants are enjoying the fruits (and vegetables) of their labor I want to thank you all for investing your time, your love and your resources into these young people’s lives. It’s a joy to see them succ eed.
In Vladimir zucchini and cucumbers have been plentiful this year. Masha has taught the participants how to make pickles which they all are enjoying. The rabbits on the other hand are another story. Although they were raised for meat – in Andrei’s eyes, the young people have befriended the fuzzy creatures. Now that it is time for harvest Andrei is a very unpopular guy, insisting that they be used for their intended purpose. Masha is refusing to cook or eat them – life’s lessons are not always easy.
In Kostroma we harvested potatoes (600 kg), beets (25 kg) and carrots (30 kg). We tilled the garden and planted 2 new beds of strawberries and took trips in the woods to pick mushrooms.

Anatoly says: “I’m new to this program but I realized right away that this is what I really enjoy doing. I love it at the Dacha, I feel like I can breathe freely there”.
Bogdan says: “I love it here so much that next summer I’ll be pleading to stay all summer at the Dacha”.
In September we counted 42 cumulative visits to the Dacha by our participants.
In October we would like to start remodeling the living room.
