  • In the Field

The Orphan’s Tree programs focus on orphans 15 years of age and older. The design of our programs encourage these young adults to become productive and successful members of their communities. Our current program categories:

    • CAREER PREPARATION and PLACEMENT - Orphans are becoming better educated, emotionally adjusted and healthier citizens. However, there is still a need for assistance in their first career steps. The objective here is to not simply be placed in a job, but to find fulfillment and satisfaction from their work.
    • DACHA PROJECT - when their orphanage days are over, most orphans are sent to technical schools in urban areas. Often these young adults become homesick for the quiet, simple ways of rural life. The dacha provides that time in the country, while supplying orphans with emotional, nutritional and spiritual encouragement.
    • EDUCATION – Education takes place everywhere! As such, it overlaps with almost all programs. We desire to see orphans have doors opened to them through expanded education opportunities. Some of these will be non-traditional opportunities; such as interacting with American professionals or educational tours within Russia.
    • LEADERSHIP - Within the community of orphans there are young people with leadership potential. Directing their energy and leadership, we can encourage them to become positive role models and good leaders to their generation, in their sphere of influence.
    • LIFE SKILLS - Raised in an orphanage, orphans typically struggle with basic life skills that many in society grow up understanding. As young people prepare to leave their orphanage, we continually seek ways to assist them to not be overwhelmed by the outside world.
    • YOUNG FAMILIES - Raised without a model of a stable family, many orphans struggle with their relationships with their spouse and their children. The objective of the young families program is to strengthen marriages and families through educational, emotional and spiritual programs.

In the future we will explore the possibilities of beginning rehabilitation programs for young adults with special needs as well as those with addictions, and a housing renovation program.
