On December 25 there was a New Year/Christmas celebration at Kostroma Ministry Center. 97 orphanage graduates came to the party.
The preparation for the celebration started a month before. The rooms in the Center were beautifully and originally decorated. During that month of preaparation there was a contest of New Year tree decorations. The kids took part in the contest with great pleasure. Their interest grew when they learned that there was the same contest on the city level and the best decorations would adorn the city New Year tree. It was especially pleasant when four New Year tree toys made by the graduates ended up on the main New Year tree of Kostroma.
The young people were greeted and then there was an artistic competition between a team of graduates and that of the staff. The program included contests for the teams and games for the audience. Father Frost and Snowmaiden came to the party.
“It’s interesting that the team of adults (the staff) and the team of graduates competed as equals. And it is more pleasant that the team of graduates had many new people – those who graduated this year.” Sasha O.
After the holiday program there was a table with many treats and each participant received a gift.
“I took part in a New Year celebration in the Center for the first time. I helped to decorate the halls, was a member of the graduates’ team. I liked the celebration very much. It was just great. I did not expect that there would be so much tasty food and such good gifts. I’d like to thank all people who organized this party for us, and gave us a chance to have a great time with friends.”
We want to thank those who made this party possible for the kids because for most of them it was the only real New Year celebration.
