  • About Orphan’s Tree

A tree is seen as a symbol of stability, protection, and provision. Those are the very things Russian orphans need at the critical time of their life when they are moving from orphanage dependence to independence. Our name, Orphan’s Tree, symbolizes life, seasons, family roots, and healthy growth.

Our mission statement is simple; “Bringing the benefits of family and God’s hope to Russian orphans when they are most alone.”

Educating, encouraging and inspiring orphans during their transition to independence will be a continued need for years to come in Russia. Programs such as career preparation and placement, training for young families and traditional and non-traditional education are just some of the ways we will walk with orphans through their specific challenges.  Emotional and spiritual nurturing are key components for the long term health of each valued young person.

In July 2008, Orphan’s Tree was started based on the extensive knowledge and deep passion for the changing needs of orphans in Russia. The respect, experience and relationships that George Steiner and Jenya Polonskaya Haps have each gained over the past 17 years serving orphans, created a new organization with a history of effective outreach.  Orphan’s Tree is committed to providing culturally relevant programs that will have the greatest influence in the lives of at-risk orphans in today’s Russia.

We invite you to participate with us in our work with Russian orphans at their time of greatest need! Please contact us if you have questions or are interested in partnering as an individual, church or corporation.
